"The Beloved Community provides educational programming designed to help young people from low-income communities build the skills necessary to unlock their entrepreneurial creativity".
|
The Teen Entrepreneurship Program has two specific objectives:
Leadership Development – Education and training for at-risk youth. Access – Technical Support and exposure to business concepts and leaders.
We believe that our hands-on experiential curriculum for high school students not only enhances their economic potential, but improves their productivity in the business of life. The program is not only designed to introduce entrepreneurship as a career option to young people, but to correct the misplaced paradigm in our community that has enticed many to pursue entrepreneurship through illegal activities. As opposed to employing leadership skills through gang participation or entrepreneurship through drug selling, The Beloved Community offers youth the chance to develop these same skills legitimately. Additionally, this program assists students in beginning their entrepreneurial pursuits immediately as opposed to offering a skill that will only be beneficial when they become adults. Throughout the program, students will work on the completion of full business plans that will be entered into the renowned NFTE competition upon successful completion of the course.
The program is voluntary for interested students and is promoted through schools, churches, and other neighborhood organizations in the community.
